Intro to clay -Wheel- March 2026

Introduction to Clay - Wheel Throwing is a small, hands-on course designed to gently guide you into the world of the pottery wheel. Each participant gets their own wheel and plenty of personal support from the instructor. Across the first two sessions, you’ll get comfortable with clay as a material and learn how to throw the core forms - cylinders, bowls, and plates. We’ll also cover trimming (including creating little "feet"), shaping clean contours, and adding textures, so your pieces are ready for their first firing called the bisque firing. In the third session, we focus on decorating and glazing your bisque-fired pieces. You’ll dip or brush your work in our studio glazes - a mix of minerals that melt into a smooth, glassy surface in the kiln. Everything you make will end up waterproof, food-safe, and uniquely yours. There’s no strict limit on how many pieces you can throw during the course, as long as they’re trimmed and glazed within our session times and safe to fire. Your finished pieces will be ready for pick-up about 2–3 weeks after the course ends. ✨Come get your hands into clay and see where it takes you!✨ Time commitment: 1 session per week, 3 hours each Total of 9 hours of studio time spread over 4 weeks. 1st session: Sunday, March 8, 14:00-17:00 2nd session: Sunday, March 15, 14:00-17:00 3rd session: Sunday, March 29, 14:00-17:00 Price: CHF450 (all-inclusive) Who is this course for? This course is for those aged 16 and above, who are complete beginners and curious about clay and ready to get their hands a little messy. A willingness to practice is all you need - wheel throwing is a lot like learning a musical instrument: your first piece will be precious, not perfect, and every try makes you better. It’s a great starting point if you’re looking for a new hobby; after the course, you’ll be all set to join our regular Open Studio sessions and keep exploring your own ideas at your own pace. If you’d love to try clay but can’t commit to all three sessions, no worries - our shorter beginner-friendly workshops are a perfect alternative. Please take a look at the 'Workshop' section of our website to see what we have planned and we look forward to seeing you at our studio!
