2024 Kintsugi Workshop

Special Kintsugi Workshop with Francine Schlöth

What to expect...

Come and discover Kintsugi with us, the ancient art of repairing and transforming broken ceramic objects into unique pieces of beauty and functionality! After a successful workshop in 2023, Ceramics Collective Basel and Kintsugi expert Francine Schlöth are pleased to host another immersive workshop that combines practical hands-on experience with in-depth theoretical knowledge of the traditional Kintsugi technique. Francine is a Swiss artist based in Basel and has studied Kintsugi and lacquer art in Japan. You can learn more about Francine and her portfolio here: https://francineschloeth.com/cv/ Over the course of three engaging hours, together with Francine, we will delve into the 3 essential components of the workshop, including a condensed version of the Kintsugi techniques, and learn to artfully mend our broken cups, plates, or other cherished objects. To make the most of this enriching experience, please bring 2-3 broken ceramic objects, from which we can help you select the most suitable One for restoration. Please don't forget to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty with and bring some gloves to protect your hands. Additionally, we recommend you bring a container to safely transport your object. Terms and Conditions: • All payments need to be made online via our payment portal at the time of booking. • Cash and IBAN transfer will not be accepted. • Owing to the limited number of seats available, the registration is non-transferable and non-refundable. However, in the event of cancellation from the part of Francine, you will receive a refund of CHF 63 after deduction of bank fee.
