Skills Session: Get a handle on things!
- Spalentorweg 7, 4051 Basel
Service Description
Join us for an immersive skill session where we delve into the fascinating world of ceramic handles. This hands-on session is designed for both beginners and experienced studio friends. Meghan Howard will guide you through the session. This session will be divided into two parts: theory and practical application. Theory: Here you will gain insights into the fundamentals of handle design, considering factors such as ergonomics, proportion, and style. You will also learn about the different types of handles commonly used in pottery, their historical significance, and contemporary trends. Meghan will guide you through the principles of handle design, discussing various styles, shapes, and techniques that can elevate your pieces to new heights! Practicals: You will put your newfound knowledge into action and have the opportunity to experiment with various ceramic handle techniques, including coil handles, pulled handles, and slab handles. You will learn how to shape and attach handles to our pottery pieces, ensuring durability and functionality. No prior experience in pottery is required to participate in this workshop. All necessary materials will be provided, and you are encouraged to bring your creative spirit (and maybe an apron!) and a willingness to explore new possibilities. After the skill session, we hope you can stay to unwind over some snacks and delightful conversations (and maybe some wine?). It's the perfect way to share your experiences, forge new connections, relax after a long week and make those glazing jokes! Secure your spot today and join us for an evening of learning, creativity, hands-on pottery experiences and fun. Limited spaces available, so reserve your spot now!
